Acer Durban Collegians and Jonsson College Rovers provided their supporters and spectators with some breathtaking rugby in the final of the Under 20 'A' Basil Medway knockout with the newly-crowned champions Collegians eventually taking the honours in extra time, winning 37-24 after the sides were level pegged 16-16 on fulltime.

The Collegians' backs, with their master game maker flyhalf Willie Du Plessis absolutely outstanding on the night, were just too good against the 2009 champions whose forwards were the better unit in an entertaining and enthralling game that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

It was undoubtedly one of the best Basil Medway finals seen in decades and both sides deserve huge credit for the wonderful rugby they dished up for the large crowd that turned up to watch.

In the early match, the Under 20 'B' DW Geddie Cup knockout final, Collegians also had the better of Rovers, winning 23-18 in another closely-contested encounter that was equally as entertaining as the main game.

For Collegians coaches Graham Furber, Sean Erasmus, John McIntosh and Brandon Hobbs, together with their managers Cassie Lineveldt and Gary Curtis, it will surely be a season to remember.

Of course, the season is a long way from being over with the Premier Division returning after the completion of the Soccer World Cup and who knows, the Collegians Under 20's could well have given the rest of the club the right kind of tonic to latch on to that sweet taste of success.

Meanwhile the Lammergeyer lead the way in the Ebbo Bastard and Philip Nel Inter Sub-Union competitions. Logs below:
