Early News - 2009

The College Rovers Rugby Club recently announced that former Sharks No 8 Brad McLeod Henderson will become player coach so helping their head coach Ryan Strudwick while he is away duty with the Wildebeest at the start of the season. Andre Barnard will continue as the backline coach for the 2008 KZNRU champion club, which starts training in earnest on Tuesday 13 January at 5.30pm.

Old Boys under new head coach Ian Adendorff also start on Tuesday 13 January at 5.30pm and members requiring information from Adendorff should phone him at O82-8712339.

Durban Collegians' Preseason training starts on Tuesday 13 January at 6pm sharp.

The club officially announced on Monday that Acer would be their new title sponsor as they start to prepare for the 2009 club rugby season. They also announced the return of former South African Schools scrumhalf Rudi Dames from France who will Captain the First XV for the new season. Ray van Noordwyk and Eugene Rooyakers also board as technical advisors for the entire club with Gilbert as the apparel and training equipment sponsors.

The new committee recently elected is as follows Chairman-Ian ‘Lizard’ Lazinzky, Vice Chairman-Hugh Dobie and other members Cassie Lineveldt, Morne Truter, Gary Rodwell and Henning Swanepoel

The coaching staff for the season is as follows: 1st Team: Head Coach: Brian Springorum, Assistant: Brett Hennessey, Technical Coach: Ray van Noordwyk, Technical Coach: Eugene Rooyakers and Technical Analyst: Dale Toy. 2nd Team Head Coach: John Duncan. 3rd Team Head Coach: Jason Mangoss-Assistant Coach: Dusty Toughey. 4th Team Head Coach: Lizard. U/20A Team: Head Coach: Gary de Klerk-Assistant Coach: Lodewyk Riekert (former 1st team coach of Crusaders)-Assistant Coach: Everitt Rossouw. U/20B Team Head Coach: John McIntosh-Assistant Coach: Gareth Brown

The medical team will be headed again by Dr Bruce Grant while the fitness coach will be Garth Halgreen (Biokineticist).
