This charismatic Irishman who went on five tours with the British and Irish Lions is the most capped Lion of all time and epitomizes the true value of the now famous red jersey that every young rugby player in the United Kingdom dreams to wear.

He first came to South Africa with the 1962 Pride of Lions and returned in 68 and then again in 74 with the side that conquered all before them. Will the class of 2009 be able to emulate the feat of that magnificent 74 side which had great legends like Gareth Edwards, JPR Williams, Phil Bennett, Bobby Windsor, Ian ‘Mighty Mouse’ McLaughlin, JJ Williams, the late Gordon ‘Broon from Troon’ Brown, Fergus Slattery and Fran Cotton in their line up?
